A Secret Santa CASE

By | October 12, 2022

My 2022 Artisan friends and I are having a Secret Santa CASE today on Instagram! We thought it would be fun to start off the Christmas season by creating holiday projects inspired by fellow Artisans. So we all drew names and have kept it a secret until right now for the big reveal! Isn’t this fun?

CASE means Copy And Selectively Edit, so in other words pick your favorite elements of a card and then switch up the stamps, dies, colors to add your personal touch.

For my CASE, I drew Madeleine Mrotzek from Germany!!! You can find her @stempelschick on Instagram. I was so excited to draw her name because, I absolutely LOVE her style. Her cards are frequently watercolored and include beautiful color spectrums with clean white backgrounds. Her cards are so elegant and beautiful, it was actually hard to scroll through and pick a favorite. In the end, I picked the photo below.

I love the beautiful bright watercolored die-cuts and ripped paper in the background of these cards with the little peeks of designer series paper.

I decided to CASE both cards in the photo and turn them into Christmas cards. To start off, I chose a sheet of Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper for the background. Then for the slimline card, I picked a simple snowflake die from the Celebrations Tags Dies and a greeting from the Brightest Glow stamp set.

I managed to do all the watercoloring on one sheet of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper for both cards. After picking my colors (which are listed below because there’s a lot of them), I simply painted stripes of each color. That way, I could position and cut the dies to mimic the color spectrum look on Madeleine’s card.

To finish the card, I used a Water Painter to flick splatter over the background and embossed the greeting in silver on Basic White Cardstock. Afterwards, I cut it out with a Labels Aglow die-cut and added some Iridescent Pearls and my personal touch, a Linen Thread bow.

For the wreath card, I decided to use the Holly Berry Dies. I cut several branch die-cuts and then, using a Layering Circle die-cut as a guide, layered them to form a wreath.

Instead of the white bow on Madeleine’s card, I cut the berries and then trimmed them down to three so they would fit nicely on my card. I also added a Linen Thread bow underneath.

The sentiment is from the Brightest Glow stamp set and embossed in silver on Basic White.

These cards were so fun to make and I love how quickly they came together. I can’t wait to see the other CASEs and find out who picked me! Go to Instagram and search for #ADTsecretsantacase to see all the Artisans projects.
