Happy Friday! It’s time for a new TGIF Challenge!!! This week, the design team is focusing on a product challenge … using vellum die cuts.
Vellum is one of my favorite products, because it’s so soft and delicate. Its see-through quality makes it perfect for adding interest, without entirely covering up the pretty elements underneath. I also love using vellum in layers for a slight variation in color. For my project today, I used Perennial Essence 12″ x 12″ Cardstock, which is colored vellum. It’s so fun and different! This product is retiring and will not be included in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog, but you can still purchase it while supplies last through June 2nd!
My tropical card features two layered vellum Stitched Shape circle die cuts to create the sun (along with a third circle die cut using Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper) and several palm tree leaf die cuts using the Tropical Dies (another soon to be retiring product.)
In addition to vellum die cuts, I used a few other techniques on this card. I created the background by spreading Shimmery White Embossing Paste with a Palette Knife over a Pattern Party Decorate Mask. Then, I wiped the paste on top of a few small flower die cuts for added shimmer.
My card features Timeless Tropical stamps and coordinating In The Tropics Dies. To color the palm trees, I used a direct-to-rubber coloring technique with Stampin’ Write Markers. I used the brush end of Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers to color the rubber in a diagonal design, then huffed on the stamp to re-moisten the ink, and stamped on Whisper White Cardstock.
Be sure to check out the TGIF Challenges Blog for all the projects using vellum die cuts!!! They’re so pretty! I know you’re going to love them. Then, create one of your own and enter our challenge by linking it to that post using the Linky Tool at the bottom.
Have an awesome day!
