Hello Friends and welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for August 2024! This month, we have a soft color combination of Lemon Lolly, Bubble Bath, and Fresh Freesia. All these subtle colors are a little out of my comfort zone, but that’s what challenges are for … to push us to try different things! I worked hard on this one, but I love the end result!
I ended up focusing my card on the Sketched Butterflies Bundle. I embossed the large butterfly in gold on Basic White and then watercolored it with the three ink colors. Then, I added a small die-cut Gold Foil butterfly on top.
Behind the butterfly, I have several die-cuts, including a couple Spotlight On Nature circles from Fresh Freesia and Bubble Back Cardstock and a Thoughtful Wishes large flourish from Basic White Cardstock.
In the background, I used Stampin’ Blend Markers in all three colors to scribble on a Window Sheet. Then, I added 91% isopropyl alcohol with a paint brush to move around the ink. Because the colors are so subtle, I had to repeat this process numerous times to darken the colors. Once dry, I flipped over the Window Sheet and adhered it to a similar sized piece of Basic White Cardstock before adhering it to my card base.
The sentiment is from the Everyday Greetings Stamp Set. It’s a fantastic Online Exclusive and what’s even better is now there is a matching holiday stamp set with coordinating dies called Greetings of The Season. You can mix and match all three for lots of great sentiment combinations!
The Greetings of the Season Die that I used was a little long, so I shorted it, by first aligning one side and then repositioned the die on the other side and cutting again. Use re-positionable tape (available from Scotch on Amazon) to hold the die in place.
Final touches were some ribbons and Brass Butterflies embellishments.
