#TGIFC320 — Sketch Challenge

By | June 11, 2021

Happy Friday Everyone! You know what that means, it’s time for a new TGIF Challenge. This week, we have a sketch challenge and I decided to use the new Plentiful Plants Bundle. This bundle includes the Plentiful Plants Photopolymer Stamps and Perfect Plants Dies. You can purchase them together in a bundle and save 10%!

This stamp set makes me think of my sister Jill. When we were growing up, she had plants all over her room! She has such a green thumb, unlike me who seems to kill everything:( I also really love the macramé plant holder die-cut. That brings back memories; those were so popular when I was a kid. I remember making them and just loving it! I had a big, long one in the corner of my room (with a dead plant – Ha, Ha!)

For something a little different, I decided to change up the colors from the coordinating Bloom Where You’re Planted Designer Series Paper and introduce some blues (Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight) and different greens. That paper pack is so cool and includes the rustic brick print that I used in the background!

I watercolored the “windows” with Balmy Blue ink and the center pot with both Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight ink. Then, I used a “watercolor stamping” technique to stamp the plants with a combination of Pear Pizzazz, Granny Apple Green, and Garden Green ink.

If you aren’t familiar with that technique, I simply inked up the stamp with two colors and then used a Water Painter to add some clear water directly onto the stamp, slightly blending the colors, before stamping on Shimmery White Cardstock. Depending on the amount of water added to the stamp, the stamped image looks different every time. I just love all the variations.

For the sentiment, I used a strip of In Good Taste Designer Series Paper and then cut it out with the Messages Die. That die is quickly becoming one of my “go to” dies for cutting out small sentiments. I seriously love it, because it includes so many different shapes.

Be sure to check out all the designers’ projects for this week on the TGIF Challenge Blog using this same sketch. Then, come join our challenge!
