Hello friends, and welcome to a new TGIF Challenge! This week, we have a sketch challenge that’s clean and simple, and just about perfect for any stamp set! So come join us!!!
I used the new Seaside Notions stamp set, paired with a fun background I created previously with Pigment Sprinkles. (Click HERE to see the blog post explaining how I created the background.) I really love this beautiful ocean-themed stamp set, with its sketchy lines. It’s perfect for watercoloring!!!
I stamped all the images on Watercolor Paper. Since this paper has a texture, I used a Stamparatus to stamp the images multiple times in the same place for thorough coverage. Afterwards, I cut out the images with scissors and watercolored them with multiple colors.
I stamped the seahorse with Pumpkin Pie ink, and watercolored it with Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight ink. I stamped the coral with Granny Apple Green ink, and then watercolored them with Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple Green, and Mango Melody ink. Finally, I stamped the shells with Bermuda Bay ink, and watercolored them with Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay ink.
For the background, I trimmed down my original to fit the template and then decided to use the Smooth Sailing rope die to create a “nautical” frame. In addition, I used the High Seas 3-D Embossing folder to add texture to a background layer of Watercolor Paper. You can see that subtle embossing below.
Final touches included some pearls and a little bit of Sahara Sand twine that I unraveled from a spool of Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine.
When I design cards, I’m notorious for forgetting about the sentiment until the very end. I can’t tell you how many times I thought I was finished, only to realize I forgot to add a sentiment!!! (Haha!) Well, it happened again on this one. I didn’t want to cover up the beautiful background with one of the large Seaside Notions sentiments, so instead I opted to use an Itty Bitty Greeting embossed in white on vellum. Much more subtle …
Be sure to check out all the amazing projects created by the TGIF Challenges Design Team. They are sure to inspire you! Then, come join our challenge!!! I really want to see what you create using this week’s sketch.
