Stampin’ Fancy Friday — Baby Card

By | August 13, 2023

For this month’s Stampin’ Fancy Friday, we have a great sketch theme. (See photo below.) I’ve seen a preview of all the cards we’ll be sharing this month, and I think you’re going to LOVE the huge variety of techniques, styles, and ideas.

To see all the designers’ projects, keep an eye on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Facebook and Instagram pages. We’d also love to see any of your projects using our monthly theme! Be sure to tag them with @stampinfancyfriday so we can find and admire them!

I decided to use the sketch to make a baby card for my nephew and his wife. They just welcomed their first child, baby Blaire Nicole!!! She’s so tiny and adorable, I can’t wait to meet her in person.

I love all the background circles in the sketch! It’s so fun and different! My original idea was to use a soft color palette to create the background with different patterns of Vellum Basics 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper. So, I cut out the dots and stripes patterns and played around by layering them over colored and/or blended circles. It wasn’t really working, so I decided to use an alcohol technique with Stampin’ Blends instead. I love how it turned out, but I might as well have used plain Vellum Cardstock, because the dots and stripes aren’t too visible.

I used Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, and Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends Markers to randomly color the back of the Vellum Basics circles with the brush end of the markers and then used 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and a paint brush to blend the colors and add splatter.

The flowers and leaves are from the Sweet Citrus Stamp Set. I embossed the images in white on Basic White and Vellum Cardstock. Then, I watercolored the flowers with Bubble Bath and Fresh Freesia ink.

I used the Charming Sentiments Stamp Set for the greeting, embossing it in white on Lost Lagoon Cardstock. Then, the final touches were a scalloped border (Scalloped Contours Dies), Linen Thread double bow, and some Iridescent Pearls.

So, if you’re like me and don’t have a lot of baby themed stamp set, this goes to show that with the right colors and one sentiment, you can pull it off!

Best wishes for a wonderful and creative day!
