Orlando Convention Day 1

By | November 8, 2018

Mom and I are at the amazing 30th anniversary Stamping Up! On Stage in Orlando Florida.  Today was the first day, so I’m going to attempt to write a blog post on my tablet, which is not an entirely easy thing to do.

We spent the entire day yesterday flying in from California, and we barely made it to the Convention Center by 9::00 PM to check in and get our box of goodies.  It was a long day, but we were up bright and early this morning waiting to get into the Mainstage, along with the other 6,000 demonstrators here from around the world!

Mainstage started with a heartwrenching story of Co-founder Shelli Gardner’s struggle to save the company from bankruptcy in 1990, as well as some demonstrators’ individual stories.  Stampin’ Up! truly cares about how it impacts demonstrators lives and community projects.  The CEO Sara Douglas surprised her mom Shelli, and presented her with the last Statement of the Heart award.  (A different award will replace it in the future.)  It was a lovely and well deserved tribute.

Then, we had prize patrol and mom won!!!  Wahoo!

Here’s a photo of the darling tote bag we received, as well as a new tool kit holder.

Next they handed out the new Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs!!!  I can only post the covers.  But, you are going to love it!  We got one new stamp set from the Occasions catalog in our bag.

At lunch, we participated in an organized swap with Kimberly Van Diepen’s Stampin By The Sea team.  These ladies are seriously talented and created gorgeous swaps.

We were late to lunch because of the swaps and had a terrible time trying to find two seats together.  I finally found a table and when I looked up, I realized we were sitting with a group of Artisan designers.  What a treat to talk to them and then create two projects.  I left the mini pizza box flat so I could bring it home.  Both use products from the new catalogs.

After more classes, we walked to a nice Thai place for dinner.  Great first day!!!
