Color Fusers Blog Hop – July 2022

By | July 4, 2022

Happy Independence Day to everyone in the USA, and welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for July! This month, our color combination includes Petal Pink, Poppy Parade, and Smoky Slate. I have to admit that it was a bit of a challenge for me. At first, this combo made me think of Valentine’s Day and I struggled to think what to do with it. It’s definitely not a combination I would have thought up on my own. But, that’s the beauty of challenges!!!

Whether you’re already following along the blog hop, or just starting here, be sure to continue on by following the navigation buttons at the bottom of this post.

In the end, I decided to combine three stamp sets including Good Feelings, Lovely You, and Rays of Light. I was really in the mood to do something entirely different. Good Feelings has huge sentiments, Lovely You is a great set that’s been sitting on my shelf too long, and Rays of Light is simply an awesome background stamp.

I started out by stamping the Rays of Light background stamp with two colors. First, I inked it up with Petal Pink and then used a Blending Brush to add Poppy Parade ink directly to the edges of the red rubber stamp. Afterwards, I gave the whole stamp a light spritz and stamped it on an oversized piece of Shimmery White. (That way, I didn’t have to worry about stamping straight and could just trim it down to fit my card.) I left the stamp on the paper a while to let the ink absorb and then used a Water Painter to fix a couple areas that I missed with the spritzer.

After the paper dried, I used a Stamparatus to add the sentiment. This allowed me to stamp multiple times in the exact same place with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and get a very dark, evenly inked sentiment.

To embellish my card, I used the Lovely You flowers. This time, I used a Sponge Dauber to add a second color directly to the stamp. I also lightly spritzed the stamps to achieve that “watercolored” look. I cut out the flowers by hand and then used the Sunflower Dies to cut out the Smoky Slate leaves.

Final touches were to add a Hive 3D dry embossed background, rough up the edges with my Paper Snips, and add a bunch of Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels for lots of sparkling sunshine and happiness.

I was really happy with how this card turned out! Yay!!!
