Welcome to the Control Freaks Blog Hop for December. I’m Tami Hewlett from California and I appreciate you stopping by. You may have just arrived from Cindy Elam’s blog, Hearts Delight Cards. If you’re already following along or just starting here, be sure to continue on through the rest of the blog hop by using the button at the bottom of this post.
This month our theme is “So Sparkly.” Isn’t that a perfect theme for this time of year? While I’ve already mailed out my Christmas cards, I still had a few more to make for gifts. These three are for my nephews.
Now you wouldn’t think that sparkles and masculine cards would go together, but snow sparkles, right? So I added lots of Shimmery Crystal Effects to these cards to enhance the snowy roof tops, snow banks and trees.
I absolutely LOVE the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper and have been meaning to use it all season. It’s so cute that I found myself thoroughly entertained finding images to cut out. I sat there one day die cutting and fussy cutting while I built little Winter scenes. I think these cards are so fun. I have two nephews that live in Colorado and one that lives in Arizona. So two will thoroughly relate to these scenes, but I’m afraid the other one will need to use his imagination.
I also stamped some of the houses, trees, and wreaths with the Home Together stamps and colored them with Stampin’ Blends Markers.
One word of caution about adding the Shimmery Crystal Effects to images. It works great with the designer series paper and images stamped with Memento ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends. But, I learned the hard way that it does not work well with images stamped with Classic ink. I stamped the bare trees with Soft Suede ink and when I added the Shimmery Crystal Effects, the ink totally smeared. So, I had to replace those trees:)
The darling sentiments are all cut from Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper.
I know the Shimmery Crystal Effects is hard to see in the photos, so this last one, which is at an angle, is a lot better.

Thanks so much Chris!!!
Happy holidays to you! I love your little scenes you made on these cards. I think these will make great birthday cards for January. I have some scraps as well as bigger pieces that I can fussy cut. The added wood look paper adds a little something too. Great job. Gotta hop along now.
