#TGIFC170 Inspiration – Repeat After Me

By | July 27, 2018

It’s another TGIF Challenges Friday!!!  This week, we have a super fun challenge … Repeat After Me.  This challenge is perfect for using the Stamparatus Tool.  The Stamparatus is a stamp placement tool, which among other things allows you to stamp in a perfect line or circle.

Before we get to my card, be sure to check out the TGIF Challenges website to see all the designers amazing projects this week!

For my project, I used the Stamparatus to create a perfect wreath of flowers using the Touches of Texture stamp set.  (For instructions on how to use the Stamparatus for this technique, click HERE.)  Then, I had fun coloring them with different combos of Stampin’ Blends Markers!

I started by stamping all the flowers with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  It’s very important to use Memento ink when coloring with Stampin’ Blends to prevent smearing.  Refer below to see the colors of Blends that I used.  I arranged my markers in a pleasing color pattern and worked around my circle.  Each flower uses one color combo (a dark and light marker), and then I colored the center with one of the markers from the previous flower.

Tip:  Stampin’ Blends are super easy to use and very forgiving!  For best results, use them on Whisper White cardstock.  The colors will continue to “blend” after you’re finished coloring.  So, I don’t like to color too close to the edges.  Also, for best results color in small sections.  I like starting with the dark color, and then adding the light color by first going over the dark section to re-activate the ink and prompt the blending process.  If you make a mistake or the color outside the lines, simply use the Color Lifter Marker to correct it!

After I was finished coloring all the flowers, I added shadows with the Light Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blends Marker.  I colored around small sections of the outside border and then used the Color Lifter Stampin’ Blends Marker to fade away the color to white paper.

I kept the rest of the card fairly simple, just using one background color (Highlander Heather) for all the texture stamps, and then adding some silver accents.  (I wanted to keep the center of attention on all my hard work of coloring!  Lol!)

I colored the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon in the background with a Sponge Dauber and Highlander Heather ink.  I first tried using some ink refill mixed with a little water, but the ribbon wouldn’t absorb the ink.  So, I found using a Sponge Dauber worked best.  I think I read somewhere to try using a Spritzer filled with ink refill.  If anyone tries that and it works, let me know.  This ribbon is so pretty; it would be fun to find an easier way to color it.

The sentiment is from the Sunshine Saying stamp set.  I stamped and embossed it in white and then used a Classic Label to punch it out.  To make the Vs, just feed the punched label ends back through the punch.
