This week, the What Will You Stamp? Challenge Blog is featuring the Lovely Lattice stamp set. This is a Sale-A-Bration stamp set that you can earn for free with a qualifying $50 purchase through March 31, 2019. It’s also one of my favorites!
I just love the beautiful flower images in this set.
For my card, I decided to try a technique I’ve been wanting to do for ages, “no-line watercoloring.” With this technique, I stamped the image with a light color of ink (Sahara Sand) on Watercolor Paper. Then, I used the stamped images as a guide to watercolor the flowers!
This technique is definitely one to use when you have a lot of time. But, it’s so worth it!!! I’m so happy with the results.
I used an Aqua Painter to watercolor using the following ink colors: Highlander Heather, Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, and Mossy Meadow. I squeezed my ink pads to pool ink in the lids and then dipped my brush into the ink. For the newer pads that are hard to squeeze, it may be easier to add a drop of ink refill in the lid or to press an acrylic block directly into the ink to use as a palette.
Here are some tips for this technique: 1) Watercolor small sections at a time, so the paper stays wet and you can control blending. 2) I started with the lighter color and then added small amounts of the darker color to blend. 3) For areas where you don’t want the colors to blend, let the paper dry. 4) Watercolor paper is very forgiving, so if you accidentally add too much color, simply add a little water and mop with a paper towel. 5) Less is better … I like to keep my brush fairly dry with a paper towel, as I feel like I have more control.
After watercoloring the flowers, I cut them out with scissors. I was trying to show how versatile this stamp set is. While the lattice design is very pretty, you can also simply use the flower images.
To finish my card, I added some gorgeous Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (another item you can earn for free with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration!) Then, I kept the rest of the card very simple with Whisper White die cuts and textures.
My daughter is going to be a bridesmaid in May, and this will be a perfect card for her friend!
