#TGIFC472 — Sketch Challenge with Flowers of Beauty

By | May 12, 2024

Happy Mother’s Day!!! I’m posting this a little late, because I didn’t want my Mom to see it before she opened the actual card. I made it for this week’s TGIF Sketch Challenge below, featuring the new Flowers of Beauty Bundle. It’s a gorgeous bundle that you’re going to love!

Isn’t this sketch darling? I love the idea of creating a window with a window box planter. It was so simple to create too! I used the Stylish Shapes Dies to layer and cut the window frame, as well as the background square. Then, to complete the window, I cut thin strips of Basic White Cardstock to create the dividers between the panes. I also used the Stylish Shapes Dies to create the window box planter out of the largest banner. I simply folded it in half.

I absolutely love the distressed wood paper on this card! It’s from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper. (I’m already working on my second pack!) I used three different prints on this card for the background, behind the window, and window box.

To fill my window box planter, I used the Flowers of Beauty Bundle to die-cut the flowers and greenery from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. I watercolored the flowers with Blackberry Bliss, Petunia Pop, Calypso Coral, Peach Pie, Petal Pink, and Daffodil Delight ink and the greenery with Old Olive and Granny Apple Green ink. The Flowers of Beauty Dies are really cool, because they include long strips that cut multiple flowers in two sizes with one pass through the Cut & Emboss Machine. To save time, I watercolored the paper first and then die-cut. Afterwards, I used the end of a stylist to shape the flowers and stacked the small ones on top of the big ones. I love the 3D effect.

I also stamped some leaves with Old Olive ink on Old Olive Cardstock and lightly watercolored them.

The sentiment is from the Stippled Roses Stamp Set.
