Welcome to a new TGIF Challenge! This week, we have an inspiration challenge using the photo below. I think it could be interpreted to include cupcakes or anything party related. I also think the focus could be on the colors, layout, or cherries.
I decided to use the Circle Saying Stamp Set (which includes a cupcake stamp) to make a birthday card for my brother-in-law. He loves cupcakes, especially red velvet and chocolate! I was also inspired by the color palette, minus the pink (haha) since my card is for a guy.
I stamped all my cupcakes with Memento ink and then used Stampin’ Blends Markers to color them. Since I needed to include red velvet and chocolate, I picked several Natural Tones Markers for the browns in the chocolate and ivory of the cream cheese frosting. I also used Lemon Lolly, Sweet Sorbet, and Cherry Cobbler markers, as well as a Color Lifter to add highlights.
Tip: With strong colors like reds and browns, I like to plan where I’ll be adding highlights and purposely leave some white space. Then, I just use the Color Lifter to blend into white.
My card also features the Biggest Wish stamp set. This is a great set for bold sentiments. I was going for a Sweet Shoppe vibe with the stripes, bold letters, and scallop edge.
