Welcome to another TGIF Challenge Friday! This week our challenge is “What would you do … without a sentiment?” I laughed when I saw this, because I frequently find myself finishing up a card and realizing that I forgot the sentiment! I get so focused on the card that the sentiment becomes an afterthought. So, this was a fairly easy challenge for me.
My card features the Apple Blossom Dies from the Perfect Partners promotion. (Click HERE to read more about the promotion.) This is the LAST DAY of the promotion, which includes seven exclusive dies that coordinate with stamps from the Annual and JD Mini Catalogs. The Apple Blossom Dies are absolutely gorgeous!!! (When I wrote this, they were still available to purchase.)
I feel so bad that it took me until the last day of the promotion to get around to using these dies! Unfortunately, it has been an incredibly busy month. (But, I plan to continue using them, retired or not, because they’re so pretty.) The Apple Blossom Dies coordinate with the Apple Harvest stamps from the JD Mini. While I just barely used the stamps on this card, (there’s a cross hatch stamp in the background), I will be using them again.
I cut all the dies out of Shimmery White Cardstock and watercolored them with Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Garden Green and Crumb Cake ink. I searched for photos of apple blossoms online to get an idea of the colors.
What’s really cool about these dies is that you get LOTS of multiples in the set. For example, there are nine leaf and four flower dies, so cutting out all the pieces only took a few passes of my Cut & Emboss Machine. I also absolutely adore the delicate scallop border that I used on the right side.
For the rest of my card, I used the Gingham Embossing Folder in the background. I had picked this as a Sale-A-Bration reward (even though it’s part of the Annual Catalog) and this is the first time I used it. Wow, I really love it! I also used some Blushing Bride Brushstroke Specialty Paper, another super beautiful product. I cut the top two layers with Deckled Rectangle Dies and watercolored the Shimmery White with Blushing Bride ink. After it dried, I stamped the hash marks with Blushing Bride ink stamped off a couple times and splattered it with a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker.
My Linen Thread wasn’t sitting right, so after I tied the top I wet it and twirled it around a narrow tool I had on hand. Isn’t it cool the way it turned out?
Be sure to click over to the TGIF Challenges Blog and check out the other designers’ projects this week. Then, let’s see what you can do without a sentiment.
Have a wonderful and creative day!
