#TGIFC378 — My Favorite Things

By | July 22, 2022

Our TGIF Challenge for this week is “My Favorite Things” so I chose to create a card with watercoloring (perfect for World Watercoloring Month!), blue tones, florals, and a pretty feminine style. I had so much fun with this one!!!

To start out, I decided to watercolor a pretty background on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. It was very random and included the following colors: Starry Sky, Orchid Oasis, Tahitian Tide, and Parakeet Party. I mainly used the biggest Water Painter and just dabbed colors on wet paper until I was satisfied. I’ll be honest too, I almost threw it away and started over. But I took a break and worked out, and when I returned and looked at it again, I decided I liked it after all!

To add an artistic flair to the background, I later splattered it with water, Wink of Stella, and white craft ink. Then, I cut it out with a Deckled Rectangle Die. I also used those dies to cut out the banner under the sentiment.

To complete the card, I grabbed some white embossed butterflies that I had stashed away using the Butterfly Brilliance stamps and coordinating die-cuts. I also used the new Artisan Additions Dies for the floral die-cuts. I cut one from Starry Sky Cardstock and another from watercolor paper and painted it with a little Tahitian Tide ink.

For the sentiment, I used the Charming Sentiments Bundle. This bundle is great because it has coordinating dies for all the greetings, so no fussy cutting needed!!!

Final details included lots of 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots and some baker’s twine that I knotted and twisted to enhance the butterfly body.

I can hardly wait to see what all the designers do with this challenge! I bet we’re going to have some amazing projects this week. Check out the TGIF Challenges Blog for inspiration and then create your own project and enter our challenge at the bottom of that post.

Have a wonderful and creative day.

Hello, have you mixed water, wink of Stella and white craft ink together to splatter or used them separately?

Also I have a question. Why do you not making videos of your projets? You are so talented. I am sure most people would have.

    Have a good day,

Hi Line, I added the splatters separately. I would love to make videos, it’s just a matter of time with a full-time job. It’s on the top of my “to do” list. Thank you for your comments.
