#TGIFC312 — Very Vintage

By | April 16, 2021

It’s Friday and that means time for a new TGIF Challenge! This week, our theme is “Very Vintage.” That’s right up my alley, because I adore the vintage look. In fact, it was a great excuse to use two of my favorite stamp sets: Positive Thoughts and Very Versailles. Both coordinate beautifully together.

It’s funny how a card evolves. My original vision was nothing like the way it turned out. I set out to create a card with soft colors, but it just lacked something. That’s when I went back to the drawing board and started looking at my color charts to see what coordinated with Blushing Bride. I had just recently downloaded a Color Coordination Chart for the new 2021-2023 In Colors, and there it was staring at me — Polished Pink! That’s when my card totally changed direction.

I had just received my first pre-order from the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog and of course, the first thing on my wish list to purchase were the fabulous new In Colors! I didn’t think I was a pink girl, but I have to admit that I totally LOVE this new color and it watercolors beautifully!

For the bright elements on this card, I started by embossing the images in white on Shimmery White Cardstock, and then I watercolored them with both Blushing Bride and Polished Pink. Afterwards, I used a Polished Pink Stampin’ Write Marker to flick splatter on the die-cut pieces.

I particularly love the background on this card. It’s a panel die-cut from Shimmery White Cardstock with the Nature’s Thoughts Dies. Then, I watercolored it with Sahara Sand ink. Once it was dry, I flicked clear water droplets on it to remove some color and then stamped the leaves and script from the Very Versailles stamp set. Finally, I flicked splatter over it with an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker. I basically had fun making a mess! Haha!

Before layering all my elements, I looped some Forever Greenery Gold Trim for a little glitz. I also tied a little piece and laid it on top of he butterfly and added some Gilded Gems to draw out the gold.

The final touch was to add a few loops of the new Polished Pink 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon under the Early Espresso label. That ribbon is to die for!

It may not have turned out the way I planned, but I love it all the same. Be sure to click over to the TGIF Challenges Blog to check out the other designers’ projects this week! I don’t know how you do it. This is absolutely the most beautiful card I’ve seen. I love the colors, the placement of each die cut piece, all the pretty layers ,,, just everything. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
