#TGIFC258 — Rainbow

By | April 3, 2020

Hello and Happy April! It’s Friday, and you know what that means! It’s time for a new TGIF Challenge!!! This week, we have a Rainbow Color Challenge. How fun is that?

I LOVE challenges, because they often make me think of something entirely different from my normal routine. It’s so easy to get in a creative rut. I NEVER would have thought of this card without this challenge. But, I’m so happy I did, because I love it!!!

I needed to make a card for one of my nephews, and I’ll be honest, I struggle with ideas for masculine cards. When I saw this challenge, I scanned through all my stamp sets wondering if I could possibly make a masculine “rainbow” card? Then, I noticed the Capture The Good stamp set!!! It was perfect, because photography is one of my nephew’s favorite hobbies.

I started by using an Aqua Painter to watercolor a rainbow on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper using Poppy Parade, Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Pacific Point, and Gorgeous Grape ink. (All of these colors but one are available in the Brights Assortment of Classic Stampin’ Pads.)

I also used Stampin’ Write Markers in the same colors, along with a Stamparatus, to create the “rainbow” sentiment. I simply used the brush end of the markers to color the rubber in small sections, one color at a time. The Stamparatus allowed me to stamp in the same place multiple times, adding each color and creating a rainbow.

I also used the Stamparatus to stamp the camera twice on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. Because the watercolor paper has a texture, using the Stamparatus allowed me to stamp multiple times in the same place and obtain perfect ink coverage. Afterwards, I watercolored the images with Smokey Slate ink and then cut out the lens, so I could pop it up with some dimensionals.

I confess that while Sale-A-Bration is over, I used a couple Sale-A-Bration products on this card that are now retired. I wanted some sort of stamp in the background to emulate a flash, and the Rise & Shine stamp set was perfect! I also added a small strip of Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper along the side.

Inside the card, I added a few more sentiments and a rectangle pocket to fold a check.

Be sure to check out all the designers’ rainbow projects this week on the TGIF Challenges Blog! I can’t wait to see what these talented ladies come up with:)

Have a wonderful day and stay safe and healthy!
