#TGIFC236 – Color Challenge

By | November 1, 2019

Hello and welcome to a new TGIF Challenge! This week, we have a color challenge that includes Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso, and Calypso Coral.

It just so happens that my 29th wedding anniversary is coming up in a few days! We were married at the little chapel in Yosemite Valley, and one of the things I remember most about that beautiful day were the gorgeous Fall colors. This week’s color combination made me think of Fall colors, so I thought it would work perfectly for an anniversary card for my husband.

I used the Snow Front stamp set and watercolor paper to create a Fall mountain scene. I started by stamping the trees in the background with Pear Pizzazz ink and then running an Aqua Painter over the stamped images to slightly blend them and give them a watercolored look.

For some of the images, I stamped off once to lighten the color. I also added a little bit of Crumb Cake to the background.

My favorite part of the main panel is the tree! After stamping the trunk with Early Espresso ink, I used the dot stamp to add multiple layers of Fall leaves, sometimes stamping full strength and sometimes stamping off. I love how it turned out!

Next, I used the Seasonal Layers Dies to cut small leaves out of Watercolor Paper. Then, I watercolored them with a combination of Calypso Coral and Early Espresso ink.

Since this card is for my husband, I wanted to make sure it looked rustic and masculine. So I added wood print designs from the Pressed Petals and Come To Gather Designer Series Paper packs.

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings. I highly recommend this stamp set. It’s one you’ll end up using a lot, as it’s got a great variety of sentiments that are nice and small so they fit just about anywhere without covering up your pretty artwork.
