Happy Friday! It’s time for a new color challenge at TGIF Challenges. The colors include Mango Melody, Bermuda Bay, and Granny Apple Green. I can’t wait to see what all the designers create with this beautiful combo!!!
I decided to use the Beach Happy stamp set for my card. I’m a big fan of palm trees, so when I saw this set, it went straight to the top of my list.
To create this card, I started by painting a watercolor wash on Watercolor Paper with Bermuda Bay and Mango Melody ink. I squeezed my ink pad to pool ink in the lid and then used the ink like paint.
Whenever I paint a watercolor wash, I start by painting the area with clear water first. That allows for nice, even blending and pretty watermarks.
After my Watercolor Paper was dry, I stamped the tree tops with Granny Apple Green ink. Then, I added the tree trunks using Soft Suede. Since the Beach Happy stamps are photopolymer, it is very easy to bend and manipulate the tree trunk into various curves. I didn’t want the very bottom of the tree trunk stamp (with the horizontal line) to show on my card, so I was careful to only ink up the top portion of the stamp.
For the background, I used the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies to layer a couple sheets of Watercolor Paper. Additionally, you might not notice this in the photo, but I covered the entire background with a layer of Bermuda Bay Cardstock that I embossed with the Subtle Textured Impression Embossing Folder.
The Beach Happy stamp set has some great sentiments! I think this card would be perfect to wish someone “Bon Voyage.” I wish it was me! I want to be there right now!!! (A girl can dream.)
