This week at TGIF Challenges, we have a product spotlight challenge — Glitter!!! Glitter is such a fun element to add to your projects for some extra sparkle and pizzazz. There are several glittery products out there including Glimmer Paper (p. 192 new thinner sheets that are safe to use with die cuts), Shimmery White Cardstock (p. 192), Stampin’ Glitter (p. 203), and Wink of Stella Glitter Brush (p. 203).
Be sure to hop over to the TGIF Challenges web page to be inspired by all the designers projects.
For my card, I made a graduation card for the older sister of one of my daughter’s best friends. She just graduated from Cal Poly and we’re so excited for her. I initially tried to use her school colors (Green and Gold), but it looked like a card for a leprechaun!!! I ditched it and went for a more non-traditional look and color combination.
In my defense, the colors match her beautiful announcement, so I think she’ll like it.
It’s really hard to photograph glittery elements. Believe it or not, there’s glitter all over this card! I used Shimmery White Cardstock as a card base and to stamp the sentiment and flowers. I used Glimmer Paper for some of the die cuts, and I used a Wink Of Stella Glitter Pen to highlight the center of all the flowers and paint over the sentiment. None of it shows up too well. I wish you could see it in real life, because it really turned out elegant and pretty.
For the sentiment, I stamped the Lined Alphabet stamp set (145908) with Stazon ink on Shimmery White Cardstock. Then, I watercolored each letter with Balmy Blue ink to create an ombre look. Afterwards, I cut the letters out with the coordinating Layering Alphabet Edgelits Dies (145664) and painted each letter with a Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. (You can order the stamp set and coordinating edgelits in a bundle for 10% off!!! Item – 148390)
The edgelits do not cut out the letters entirely, but it was easy to complete the cutting with scissors by following the stamped image.
For the flowers, I used the Tropical Chic stamp set. (I’m so in love with this set!!!) I inked the stamp with Highlander Heather ink, stamped off once, and then used a sponge dauber to add Blackberry Bliss ink directly to the stamp in the center of the flower. Before stamping, I used an Aqua Painter to add a little clear water to the stamp. This is one of my favorite techniques to get a beautiful watercolored look. It’s different every time you stamp.
After the flowers dried, I used a Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker to draw lines in the center of each flower and darken the stamens.
The background layers and dies include both Gray Granite and Sahara Sand Cardstock.
The final touch was to add a few Blackberry Bliss Faceted Dots.

Absolutely a beautiful card, I LOVE it!
Thank you so much Melodee! ❤❤❤
