Stamping Sunday — Ombre’

By | June 13, 2021

Hello and welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop for June! I’m Tami Hewlett from California, USA and this month, our theme is “Ombre’.” Ombre’ patterns are so soft and pretty! I love using them on my projects, whether I create them myself with Blending Brushes or Stampin’ Blends Markers or use one the many ombre’ products currently available to purchase from Stampin’ Up!

For this blog hop, the designers have two choices. We can design 1) three versions of a card for beginner, casual, and avid stampers, or 2) a 3D project and a card. This month, I chose the second option, since I really wanted to use the gorgeous Ombre’ Gift Bags.

Hugs & Kisses Card:

For my first project, I created a slimline card with the Sending Hugs Bundle. This bundle includes the Sending Hugs Cling Stamp Set and coordinating Layering Hugs Dies (purchase in a bundle for 10% off.)

There are lots of ombre’ elements on this card including 1) a Fresh Freesia ombre’ background created with Blending Brushes, 2) an ombre’ pattern created with a Basic Pattern Decorative Mask and Blackberry Bliss, Gorgeous Grape, and Fresh Freesia ink, 3) die-cut leaves from Ombre’ 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper, and 4) ombre’ coloring of the floral design and “HUGS” letters with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Whew, I think I covered my bases here and met the challenge!!!

I’m a big fan of Stampin’ Blends Markers, and this stamp set is PERFECT for coloring. I absolutely love it. Apparently, I was in a purple mood this weekend and used just about every shade I could get my hands on!

One of my favorite parts of this stamp set is how easy it is to add layers and dimension with the coordinating Layering Hugs Dies. I used the small leaf die to cut multiple leaves to layer in the background, the single flower and leaf dies to add on the sides, and the “HUGS” letter die to add dimension to the letters. Tip: Prior to cutting the letters, adhere the cardstock to a Foam Adhesive Sheet. Then, just peel and stick!

I love all the cute sentiments in this stamp set too! There are loads of ways to send hugs – so cute.

Hugs From All of Us Gift Bag:

For my second project, I used one of the GORGEOUS Ombre’ Gift Bags! They come in all five of the new 2021-2023 In Colors, including Fresh Freesia used here.

This time, I started with a strip of Fresh Freesia Shimmer Vellum that I cut with a Basic Border Die. Then, I embossed the large floral image in white on Vellum Cardstock and cut it out with the same die. On the back side of the Vellum, I colored the flowers with Stampin’ Blends for a soft, subtle look. Finally, I layered the Basic White detailed die-cut over both layers.

Similar to the first project, I cut the letters out of Basic White Cardstock (with Foam Adhesive Sheets already adhered to the back) and then colored an ombre’ design with Blackberry Bliss, Highland Heather, and Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends Markers.

Then, to finish off my project, I added a few extra tulips, some Opal Rounds, and a fancy bow tied with 3/8″ Open Weave Ribbon. I love how beautifully all these products coordinate together!!!

Hope my projects have inspired your ombre’ vibes! Be sure to click the navigation buttons below to continue on through the rest of the Stampin’ Sunday Blog Hop. Next up is the super creative and talented Vicki Boucher from Australia!

Beautiful, Tami! I love that you carried the ombre from the back to the front by coloring the letters…great idea.
