Stamping Sunday Blog Hop – Texture Time!

By | September 13, 2020

Welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop for September! This month, our theme is texture and ribbon! I love adding texture to my projects; in fact it’s one of my favorite ways to step-up projects and give them the WOW factor. And, it’s so easy! Add some ribbon, embellishments, heat or dry embossing, crystal effects … the list is endless.

For this blog hop, the designers have a choice of either designing 1) three versions of a card for beginner, casual, and avid crafters, or 2) a card and a 3-D project. This month, I picked the second option, because the theme included ribbon, and I love creating gift boxes with pretty ribbon and bows!!!

My first project is a Mini Paper Pumpkin Box decorated with products from the Wonder of the Season Suite on pages 30 to 32 of the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog.

I started by sponging the Mini Paper Pumpkin Box with Shaded Spruce ink to match the gorgeous Wonder of the Season Ribbon. The feel of that ribbon is absolutely sumptuous … so soft and subtle!

Next, I created a belly band with some Wonder of the Season Specialty Designer Series Paper. That paper is so cute! It includes some absolutely adorable holiday “news” articles. The particular sheet I picked is printed in gold foil.

To create the bow, I cut three strips of ribbon measuring 12″, 10″, and 8″. I adhered the ends of each strip together in the center with Tear & Tape to form loops. Then, I stacked the loops on top of each other, from largest to smallest, and tied a fourth strip of ribbon around the center to secure the loops and form the ends. Lastly, I added a strip of Tear & Tape to the belly band to secure the entire bow on top of the gift box.

I created the Brushed Metallic gold tag with the Wishes & Wonder Stamps and North Pole Wonder Dies. Those dies BOTH cut and emboss with stitching on the tags and lines on the leaves! To add even more texture to the center circle, I dry embossed it with the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder and then added a Gold Hoop and Gilded Gems embellishments.

I stamped the leaves with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored them with Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends Markers. The final touch was a delicate Brushed Metallic gold Joy Die.

Inside the box, I added another sheet of Wonder of the Season Specialty Designer Series Paper and a stag die cut from North Pole Wonder Dies.

For my card, I really wanted to showcase that beautiful Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder! I used it to emboss the background and then highlighted the trees with a Sponge Dauber dipped in Champagne Shimmer Paint. It’s super sparkly and shimmery in real life!

For additional texture, I heat embossed the circular “North Pole” stamp in gold on the Brushed Metallic gold circle, added a Gold Hoop, and some Wonder of the Season Ribbon. I also cut out some bells from ‘Tis The Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and covered them with Shimmery Crystal Effects. (I adore shimmer on holiday projects!!!)

I debated whether to add color to this card and finally decided to keep it simple and elegant with mostly gold and white.

To create the snowy hills, I used the Pine Woods Dies and then added some Champagne Shimmer Paint on the top edge to tie in the embossed background.
