Stamping Sunday Blog Hop – Shimmy & Shake

By | September 17, 2023

Welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop for September 2023. This month, our theme is shaker cards! How fun! I love interactive cards and shaker cards are my favorites.

For my card, I used both the Joy of Christmas and Christmas Classics Bundles. They are both part of a fabulous mega suite in the new September-December Mini Catalog (pages 28-31), which includes all sorts of beautiful coordinating products. I immediately fell in LOVE!

The suite includes Loose Holly Gems & Sequins, which are perfect for a shaker card. And since they are quite colorful, I wanted to make them the focus of attention. So I decided to make the rest of the card mostly gold. I love gold Christmas cards! They are so elegant! And, I think the detailed frame die-cuts look absolutely gorgeous in gold. In fact, I layered two of them on top of each other for added depth and fullness.

To build the shaker element, I used the Christmas Classics Dies to cut squares in the two gold frames and the top layer of Joyful Specialty Designer Series Paper (SDSP.) Next, I added a Window Sheet behind the SDSP and glued the frames on top. Then, I used Foam Adhesive Strips to elevate the entire top layer and capture the shaker elements under the window.

I also adore the NOEL stamp with its “sweater” print. It reminds me of old fashioned Nordic designs. I stamped it with Versamark ink on Real Red Cardstock and then heat embossed it in gold.

Tip: Back the cardstock with a Foam Adhesive Sheet and then, after die-cutting the letters, keep the negative die. That makes it much easier to both align and adhere the letters to your project.

For just a touch of color, I embossed a few berries in gold on watercolor paper. Afterwards, I watercolored them with Real Red ink. I also pre-painted some watercolor paper with both Old Olive and Shaded Spruce ink to cut out the pine die-cuts.

The final touch was some Gold & Vanilla Satin Edged Ribbon (a carryover product available online) and Blooming Pearls.

On the inside of the card, I added a bit more gold embossing and watercoloring.
