Our theme for Stampin’ Fancy Friday this month is tags, which is perfect timing for the upcoming holidays! You never know when you might need a special tag for a loved one.
To see all the designers’ tags, keep an eye on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the month. We’d also love to see your creative tags! Be sure to “tag” them with @stampinfancyfriday so we can find and admire them! (Like the pun? 🙂
I’m posting a two-fer today. These Christmas tags are also my 7 Days of Christmas : Day Four

I was busy, busy in my craft room with all sorts of holiday products scattered about when I made these. So they really are a mash up of a bunch of different things I had on hand. Plus the day before, my husband had run across some “gnome” ribbon at Costco that he thought I’d like. I used it as inspiration for these matching tags. (See a photo at the bottom of this post.)
I have to admit that originally, I was not a big gnome fan. I’m typically not into cutesy stuff. But … the more I worked with them, the more I’ve fallen love. That’s one BIG advantage of being on the Artisan Design Team. I’ve been forced to work with some products I had absolutely no interest in initially, and you know, they ended up being some of my favorites!!! Go figure. I’m starting to seriously question my taste! Haha!
All my tags were created with the Celebrations Tag Dies. I needed something big and these tags are the largest Stampin’ Up! offers. However, they are designed to fold and aren’t very long, so I needed to make a few adjustments. To make them longer, I used a partial die-cutting technique and ran each one through the die-cutting machine twice (once for the top and then another time to extend the tag down and cut the bottom.) I ended up doing a little trimming and sanding (to round corners), but it was actually a lot easier than it sounds, and I got exactly what I wanted!
Another product I used on all the tags was the Sweetest Christmas Designer Series Paper. It’s perfect for die-cutting the hats because it looks like knit fabric!
For the tag above, I added the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder (which includes both an embossing folder and dies) to create the tree ring and branches. Then I colored the branches with Stampin’ Blends Markers. I also used blends to color the little guy’s nose. Then, I used some Snowflake Vellum Specialty Paper in the background and to decorate his hat.
On this next one, I used the Spruced Up Bundle to stamp and die-cut the candy cane. I also added a pom-pom to his hat with Snowfall Puff Paint. Then, so make him look like he’s wearing pants, I cut the “shoes” die twice (from Basic Black and Sweet Sorbet Cardstock), trimmed it, and spliced it together.
For the last tag, I added some Decorated Pine die-cuts with Snowfall Puff Paint. I also added a background cut with the Dots & Spots Die to mimic the ribbon pictured below.
You can see the Costco ribbon that inspired me in this photo.
