Our theme for this month’s Stampin’ Fancy Friday is patterned paper. My current favorite is the Meandering Meadow 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, which is part of the Meandering Meadow Suite Collection — an Online Exclusive. Each sheet in this paper pack is an absolute work of art! I couldn’t pick a favorite, but that worked in my favor, because I needed to make a bunch of sympathy cards. While making sympathy cards is a sad task, I also recognize that it’s necessary. Cards are needed for all occasions, and what better way to bring comfort than paintings of beautiful meadows?
To see all the designers’ projects, keep an eye on the Stampin’ Fancy Friday Facebook and Instagram pages throughout the month. We’d also love to see any of your projects using our theme! Be sure to tag them with @stampinfancyfriday so we can find and admire them!
My cards feature the Garden Meadow Bundle and Something Fancy Stamps (for the sentiments.) I started by picking four of my favorite scenes for the focal points and then picked coordinating prints for the background strips and die-cuts. On the back of all the beautiful scenes are lots of coordinating “plain” prints with woodgrain and textures that work perfectly for backgrounds.
I love blues, so this print was a must! This first card also features the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder used with Very Vanilla Cardstock. Then, I added a little Balmy Blue ink to the edges with a Blending Brush.
I stamped all the images with Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and then watercolored them with coordinating colors.
On the inside, I used a retired Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Heal Your Heart. I kept the scraps when I die-cut the card fronts, so I could use the leftovers on the inside.
This next card is similar, but it features the Timber 3D Embossing Folder and then I used Early Espresso ink around the sides.
Behind my stamped and watercolored flower, I used more of the DSP to cut the “grass.” Since the die-cut is fairly large, I simply trimmed it down to the size I wanted. I also used the Garden Meadow Dies to cut a fence from the woodgrain print.
I love these sentiments from the Heal Your Heart Stamp Set!
When I watercolored the images in the lower/left corners, I also painted the “white” background around the images with a little Balmy Blue ink, so it wouldn’t stand out so much. Then, to embellish each watercolored image, I added some Opaque Ovals to give the appearance of pebbles.
The Meandering Meadow Suite includes this beautiful Pecan Pie 3/8″ Center Stripe Ribbon! I placed a little strip behind each sentiment for some additional texture. The sentiment itself is embossed in gold on Very Vanilla Cardstock and then fussy cut.
This last card is for my son’s mother-in-law who just recently lost her 105 year old dad. If you look closely, you’ll notice that I added a touch of the colored rice paper she gave me along the left side of the dark strip of DSP.
The recipient loves birds, so I added a few to the inside of the card.
The Meandering Meadow Suite Collection is simply gorgeous. I’m excited to use it again.
Have a wonderful and creative day!
