Our son turned 25 yesterday!!! No way … a quarter century? It’s crazy how quickly the years go by! I’m super proud of the young man he has become, but I can’t help missing that sweet little boy too…
My sister took this precious photo during a vacation in Maui just after Samuel had turned two.
Maybe I’m feeling a little nostalgic, because I decided to make a goofy, fun card, rather than something serious. Life for a mid-twenty-year-old is serious enough with all the goals, pressure, and responsibilities. A big birthday like this should focus on celebrating and laughter.
I created this watercolored card with the Over The Moon stamp set.
To create the background, I used two watercoloring techniques. First, I used Stampin’ Write Markers to paint a vibrant wash. I used the brush end of the markers (Balmy Blue and Pear Pizzaz) to color large areas on watercolor paper. Then, I activated the ink with an Aqua Painter.
Next, I stamped the grass with Old Olive ink and used both Pear Pizzaz and Old Olive ink to blend and add layers to the grass. I stamped the cow and sentiment with Black Stazon ink on watercolor paper and then painted the cow with Soft Suede, Gray Granite, and Petal Pink ink.
I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to punch out the three balloons, and then I watercolored them with Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel, and Old Olive ink.
I think she looks like a very happy cow!
For the background layers, I used Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper has some fantastic wood and burlap designs that are great for masculine cards! I sponged the edges and worked the corners to make them look tattered.
The Over The Moon stamp set has the cutest sentiments!!! I added another on the inside of the card…
And a third on the back!
Happy Birthday to our first born! Love you so much Samuel!!!
Have a great day!
