Color Fusers Blog Hop for November 2018

By | November 5, 2018

Welcome to the November Color Fusers Blog Hop!  We have a gorgeous color combination this month, including Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.  I’ve always been a “blue” girl, especially shades of turquoise, so this color combo is right up my alley!  If you’re following the blog hop, you’ve just come from Jo Anne’s blog.  If you’re just starting, use the Next button at the bottom of this post to follow through to Melissa’s blog and get ready to be inspired!

I’ve combined this color challenge with the What Will You Stamp? Challenge for this week featuring the Country Home stamp set.  For more inspiration from our designers featuring this gorgeous stamp set, click on the graphic below.

I created this card for a good friend, and fellow stamper.  I know she’ll appreciate all the little details, so I put some extra effort into it.  I stamped and embossed the jug and flowers on Shimmery White with Versamark and embossed in gold.  For the flowers, I stamped both floral arrangements multiple times, so I could cut them out and layer them in order to create a unique, 3-D bouquet.

The brown tones in this color combination inspired me to create an old fashioned, sepia looking card, with just the turquoise tones as highlights.  So I used a few techniques to add to this overall look.  I used a sponge brayer to add Crumb Cake ink to the white side of the Chicken Wire Elements.  I embossed the oval die cut with the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder, and then I sponged the raised areas with both Early Espresso ink and Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint.  I also used an Aqua Painter to splatter my card base and tiles with gold shimmer paint.  Finally, I sponged all the background layers with gold shimmer paint.

To watercolor the jug and flowers, I squeezed my ink pads to pool ink in the lids.  Then, I used an Aqua Painter to add clear water to the areas I was going to paint.  This allows the ink to bleed and blend easily to create nice water effects.  Also, the raised gold embossing helps to contain the water and color in each area.

In the background, I stamped and embossed the individual tiles in gold on Shimmery White Cardstock.  Then, I randomly watercolored them with both Crumb Cake and Early Espresso ink and splattered them with gold shimmer paint.  Afterwards, I cut them out to use as accents.

As a final touch, I used a Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends Marker to color some Pearl Basic Jewels and give my berries some added dimension.

Definitely a WOW! I loved reading about all your steps. Love that you layered the elements in the bouquet, too.
