Color Fusers Blog Hop – February 2024

By | February 5, 2024

Welcome Stamping Friends! For this month’s Color Fusers Blog Hop, we have a beautiful color combination of Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis, Starry Sky, and Gorgeous Grape. I love it, especially because it includes three 2022-2024 In Colors. Those In Colors have got to be some of my favorites of all time. I’m going to have serious withdrawals when they retire! If you’re a fan of them like me, I advise stocking up, because they will be running out of stock soon!

At the bottom of this post are links for the entire Color Fusers Blog Hop. Be sure to follow along and see all the designers’ projects using this color combination.

I decided to use these colors to make a Valentine’s Day card for my husband using the Trucking Along Stamp Set (an Online Exclusive) and Sketched Plaid background stamp! I thought these colors were perfect for a manly, non-traditional card.

I think my favorite part of this card is the background. I admit that I had to give it a few tries. My fingers were entirely blue by the time I was finished, but that’s OK. It was worth it! Honestly, it’s not because the background ended up being very hard to do. It was more the process I went through to ultimately get there! Ha! I initially tried a few other techniques that just didn’t work out. Have you ever had a day like that, where you envision something in your head, but it just doesn’t translate? In the end, I simply used Blending Brushes to add both Tahitian Tide and Orchid Oasis ink to a background layer of Basic White Cardstock. Then, I stamped the blended layer using the Sketched Plaid background stamp and Starry Sky ink.

The truck is stamped with Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and watercolored with Tahitian Tide ink. Then for the wheels, I used Basic Gray, Gray Granite, and Smoky Slate ink. Behind the truck is a circle cut with the Everyday Details Dies.

I also watercolored the greeting. First, I used a Stampin’ Brayer to add Starry Sky ink to the Thoughtful Moments Hybrid Embossing Folder. After running it through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the coordinating die in the embossing folder, I got the cut out outline of the words. Then, I watercolored the inside of the letters with Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis, and Gorgeous Grape ink. I love this look!

The Thoughtful Moments Hybrid Embossing Folder also has several coordinating dies, one of which cuts out the tiny hearts I used to fill the truck bed! The last touch was to add some Gold Faux Leather Trim underneath the sentiment.

This card is a stunner! (I’d love to see what was originally in your head, too!) You make gorgeous cards, Tami!

Awe thanks so much Cindie! That means a lot. I was trying a watercolor technique in the background, and I couldnt get the Sketched Plaid background to stamp well on that paper. Too bad, because it was really pretty!

Thanks so much Stacey! Ha, it wasn’t too bad, a little luquid glue made it fairly easy.
