Color Fuser Blog Hop – September

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for September 2020! This month, we have a beautiful color combination of Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, and Melon Mambo! I love blue tones, so this is right up my alley!

Bright pink makes me think of flowers, so it was an obvious choice to pick a stamp set with beautiful flowers, such as Prized Peony.

I stamped the flowers with Jet Black Stazon ink on Shimmery White Cardstock and then used Water Painters to watercolor with Melon Mambo ink. I also used a little bit of Old Olive for the leaves and Mango Melody ink in the center of the large flower.

I think my favorite part of this card is the background! I started by watercoloring an entire panel of Shimmery White Cardstock with Night of Navy and Balmy Blue ink. The large Water Painter works great for big washes like this! Next, I used the cap of my Water Painter to flick clear water all over the panel, waited about 30 seconds, and then mopped up the excess water with a paper towel. This effectively removes some of the color adding pretty water droplets. Finally, I ran the whole panel through an embossing machine with the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder.

Afterwards, I added some Elegant Faceted Gems to enhance the water droplet effect.

My second favorite part of this card is the bow. I LOVE Stampin’ Up!’s Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkle Seam Binding Ribbon! It’s super thin, so I was able to build this bow with lots of loops and very little bulk.

Tip: To force the bow to lay the way I wanted, I slipped some Mini Glue Dots underneath, then I positioned the bow and pressed down. It works like a charm!
