April 2020 Desktop Calendars

By | April 26, 2019

It’s time for another edition of my 2020 desktop calendars. I try to design one of these 4″ x 6″ calendars each month for the following year, so I have eight sets to hand out to friends and family as gifts at Christmastime.

Making these calendars is a great way to showcase my favorite products of the season and get full use of retiring products. So for April, I decided to use up a lot of my spare Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration.

I did very little stamping these calendar pages, only to stamp April! All the rest is designer series paper. I used scissors to cut out large butterflies from a black and white sheet of Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper, and then used Stampin’ Blends to color them Highlander Heather, Balmy Blue, and Daffodil Delight.

Because I was coloring fairly large areas, I used the brush end of each marker for nice, smooth blending.

To create the antenna, I unraveled some Black Baker’s Twine (to thin it out) and then attached a few strands to the back of each butterfly.

Then, to add a pop of color, I cut a circle out of Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock using the Layering Circles Framelits Dies and then embossed it with the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder.

The background sheet of DSP measures 4″ x 6″, the striped sheet measures 3-1/4″ x 5-1/4″, and the calendar sheet itself measures 3″ x 5″. (See instructions below to print and cut.)

I used the Labeler Alphabet stamp set to stamp the month with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. I like to overlap the letters just a little bit, to create a solid black background. In order to do this, I needed to stamp each letter individually. However, I devised a method that makes the process pretty fool-proof. I stamp near the edge of the paper, so I can line up the bottom of each stamp in the same place and stamp in a nice straight line.

I created the calendar pages using My Memories Suite software. You can download a printable JPEG HERE. Print the April calendar on Whisper White Cardstock with the smallest margins possible for your printer. I designed the pages to go all the way to the edges of a standard 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet of cardstock. Trim as follows:

Keep following my blog this year to see all the 2020 desktop calendar pages and make them with me! I’ll be back next month with the May 2020 page.

Have a wonderful and creative week!

    LOVE YOUR CALENDAR FOR 2020!
Oh do I wish I lived closer to you to take this fun class.
I am a calendar monger and have a different colorful calendar in each room of my home.
Any possibility of receiving a 2020 Calendar Kit or a completed 2020 Calendar?
This would be such a treat!

Oh Christine! That’s one of the nicest compliments I’ve heard in ages. I WISH I had an extra set to send you!!! Unfortunately, I only make 8 each year. I’m sure you understand the huge amount of time and love I put into them. That’s why I post all the supplies and techniques used, so others can choose to purchase the products and make their own. Thank you so much!!!
