April 2019 Desktop Calendar

By | April 26, 2018

It’s time to for another 2019 desktop calendar page.  Each month, I try to design one, so by the end of the year, I have full sets to hand out an Christmas gifts.  The calendars fit in a standard 4″ x 6″ frame.

For my April 2019 pages, I used the Remarkable You stamp set.  This set is one of my favorites and it’s retiring on May 31st, so I want to get some good use out of it while I can!  For a complete listing of retiring products, see the Catalogs Tab of my blog.  Products are available while supplies last, so the best source of currently available items is my Online Store.

I wanted  to color an authentic looking flower, so I looked at photos online and decided to create a Stargazer Lily.  They are bright and Springy looking and perfect for the month of April.

I stamped the flower with Basic Black Archival Ink on Shimmery White cardstock.  In order to add the splatters behind the flower, without stamping them on the flower, I used a masking technique.  I stamped the flower on scrap paper, cut it out, and laid the mask over the stamped image on my calendar page.  Then, I stamped the splatter from the Touches of Textures stamp set multiple times in Tranquil Tide ink.

Next, I used an Aqua Painter to watercolor the flower with Melon Mambo and Fresh Fig ink and the stem and leaf with Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist ink.  For the petals, I started with a very light wash of Melon Mambo, being sure to leave some white space on the edges of the petals just like real  Stargazer Lilies.  While the petal was still wet, I added some darker Melon Mambo and Fresh Fig ink to the center and let it blend.  When the paper was dry, I used a Fresh Fig Stampin’ Write Marker to add speckles to the petals.

I just checked, and the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper I used in the background is sold out.  However, there are several other designer papers with similar designs and colors that you could use as a replacement.

For the April label, I used a retired stamp set called Project Life Date It.  I stamped it with Basic Black Archival ink on Melon Mambo cardstock and then cut it out with a Bunch of Banners Framelits Die.

I created a printable calendar page on My Memories Suite.  To download the JPEG, click HERE.  Print the JPEG on 8-1/2″ x 11″ Shimmery Whisper White cardstock with the smallest margins possible for your printer.  The days and numbers are colored black, so no need to use a color setting.  Each sheet will make 4 calendar layers.  Trim each one down to 3″ x 5″ as follows:

Love this calendar. What a great idea to work on it a month at a time. I really need to start this project before it’s too late. Thanks for sharing.
