Welcome to the Control Freaks Blog Hop for March! This month, our theme is “Celebrate.” Wahoo, I love to celebrate! This theme works perfectly for me, because March is a HUGE birthday month!!!. My family, friends and co-workers have more birthdays this month than any other one, and they are all super important people that deserve extra special cards.
Whether you’re already hopping and just came from Cindy Elam’s Blog (love her creations!) or just starting here, be sure to continue on through the rest of the blog hop. We’ve got some great projects to share! See the navigation buttons at the bottom of this post.
For my card, I used the Pretty Perennials Bundle, which includes the Pretty Perennials Photopolymer Stamp Set and Perennials Petals Dies. This is such a gorgeous bundle, with beautiful flower images and awesome coordinating dies. I especially love the big “happy” stamp and delicate leaf and flower outlines.
I paired this bundle with the Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to truly appreciate the total AWESOMENESS of this paper!!! I absolutely love the ombre designs and colors, and I’ve been having so much fun lately cutting and flipping and layering that paper. It’s SO incredibly pretty! I used it for both the rectangle backgrounds and leaf dies on my card. It’s like instant artistry!!!
To stamp the multicolored flowers, I inked up the stamp with Coastal Cabana or Pacific Point ink and then used a Sponge Dauber to add Night of Navy ink directly onto the stamp prior to stamping. For some flowers, I added ink to the centers of the petals and for others, I added ink to the outer edges.
Then, I added Gilded Leafing Embellishments to sections of the background and delicate die-cuts. I simply used a Sponge Dauber to apply a little Versamark Ink, then covered it with Heat & Stick Powder, heat set, applied the Gilded Leafing, and brushed off the excess.
To enhance the colors of my card even further, I added some Fine Art Ribbon (with gold highlights) and Whale of A Time Sequins. I love blues!!!
Celebration cards are my favorite ones to make. They are happy occasions worthy of gorgeous cards. Hope my card today inspired you. Next up for the Control Freaks Blog Hop is Debbie Hendersen!
