Last Saturday was World Card Making Day! My daughter-in-law Josie happened to be visiting, and she loves to craft just like me. So we decided to attend the virtual Stampin’ Up! event together. We loved the ideas demonstrated, which included using various ephemera packs with card and envelope packs to make simple, but creative cards.
Both of us were in the mood to make holiday cards, so we decided to use the A Little Bit Festive 12″ x 12″ Mix & Match Specialty Designer Series Paper for all our projects. That paper includes sheets of ephemera elements as well as coordinating papers. We paired the ephemera elements with the Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes and Brushed Gold Cards & Envelopes to make our holiday cards.
I knew I had more time the next day to finish my projects, so during the class, I laid out four different cards. Josie finished hers right then and there. The next day, I added little touches like sentiments, embellishments, and ribbons.
All our cards include sentiments from the Peaceful Season Stamp Set and coordinating Dies.
To finish my first card, I ripped Basic White Cardstock to create snow and used a Water Painter to add Pool Party shading. I also added some adorable Peppermint embellishments to the gingerbread house, Festive Pearls (retired) to one of the trees, and Real Red & White Baker’s Twine.
On the second card, I created a card base from Real Red Cardstock and added a sentiment using Cherry Cobbler Cardstock. The background is a sheet of Nature’s Sweetness Designer Series Paper. I also enhanced the wreath with some Golden Greenery die-cuts blended with Garden Green ink. The final touch was some Cherry Cobbler Berries.
My third card uses one of the gorgeous Brushed Gold card bases. I added a Gold Foil banner and Cherry Cobbler Glimmer “Christmas” using the Peaceful Seasons Dies. I also added some gold Festive Pearls to the Christmas tree and a Real Red bow to the teddy bear.
The red and white striped paper is from the A Little Bit Festive DSP!
On my fourth card, I watercolored some Basic White Cardstock with Misty Moonlight ink before embossing the sentiment in gold and cutting it out with a Peaceful Season Die. I did similar enhancements as the wreath in card 2, and then I added some Regal Foiled Dots.
Lastly, here’s Josie’s card that she whipped up during the live class. I think it turned out adorable!!!
Aren’t all these ephemera items cute? Everything, the gingerbread house, trees, wreaths, truck, teddy bear, presents, stockings, and stars are included with the A Little Bit Festive Mix & Match SDSP!!! And, I have a bunch leftover!
