World Card Making Day!

By | October 7, 2023

Happy World Card Making Day! Today was so fun!!! I attended the virtual card making event by Stampin’ Up! It included making three cards together, as well as lots of great tips and presentations. If you missed it, you can still watch the recording. Click HERE to see the video on demand.

In the meantime, you can download the he Card Making Supply ListMeasurements, and Card Making Instructions.

Of course, I had to add a few personal enhancements to each card to step them up. (It’s just what I do.) So I’ll hit the highlights here.

On the Circle Saying card, I brightened it up a bit by using a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Maker to draw the stripes and a Blending Brush to add Daffodil Delight ink to the background layer. (I do love bright colors. They make me happy.) I also added an extra background layer that I dry embossed with the Cheery Patterns Embossing Folder.

I used an extra shade of blue to stamp one of the saying in Azure Afternoon. The final enhancement was a Linen Thread bow.

For the Earthen Textures card, I added an extra layer in the background as well, which I dry embossed with the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder. Then, I used a Blending Brush to add Blueberry Bushel ink to the layer to enhance the embossing.

This card is probably my favorite, because it involves watercoloring (my fav.) For the fan, I watercolored the paper before cutting out the die, so the embossing stayed crisp. I also splattered the fan with a Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Write Marker and cut apart the fan leaves and folded them.

I stamped the feather leaves with Berry Burst ink and then watercolored them with both Berry Burst and Melon Mambo. Then, I added a bit of blending to the sentiment and a bow tied with the Ribbon Duo Combo Pack.

I don’t own the Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle, so I substituted supplies I had on hand that were similar. I used the More Wishes Stamp Set and Nested Essentials Dies, as well as the Traditions of St. Nick DSP. I also dry embossed the background with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder.

The little holiday figures are fussy cut from the DSP.

Since my version of the card included wide hexagons, I also twisted the layout to landscape.

I hope these ideas have inspired you to add some personal twists of your own.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
