I immediately fell in love with the row of trees included in this stamp set. They remind me of trees covered in frost in the winter that I see on trips to my mom’s house in Mammoth Lakes and snow skiing in the Sierra Mountains.
I decided to create my first Christmas card of the season featuring those trees!
For the main panel, I cut a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock measuring 4-1/8″ x 3″ and used Sponge Daubers to apply Night of Navy, Blueberry Bushel, and Balmy Blue ink. After I had blended the ink colors well, I flicked clear water on the panel using the brush of my Aqua Painter. Then, I waited about 30 seconds and mopped up the water with a paper towel, leaving those beautiful watermarks that look like stars.
Next step was to add the trees. First, I rubbed an Embossing Buddy over the whole layer to remove the static from the paper. This is very important when you’ve just added ink to the entire layer to ensure the embossing powder does not stick to everything. Then I stamped and embossed the trees in white.
The In The Woods Framelits Dies has some beautiful dies for accents! First, I used the edgelit die to create hills. The bottom layer is Shimmery White Cardstock and the top layer is Sparkle Glimmer Paper. (I flipped the die for the top layer for some variety.)
I also used Sparkle Glimmer Paper for the die cut trees in the foreground. I love sparkles for Christmas!
For the greeting, I wanted something subtle. So, I decided to watercolor a very light wash with Balmy Blue ink. After it dried, I stamped the greeting over it with Night of Navy ink. Then, I punched it out with the Everyday Label Punch
I layered the sentiment over some leaves cut from Silver Foil, and added some Silver 3/8″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon and Silver Metallic Thread as accents.
