#TGIFC570 — One Sheet Wonder with Garden Poetry Designer Series Paper

Hello and welcome to a new TGIF Challenge. This week, we have a technique challenge called a “One Sheet Wonder.” The goal is to efficiently cut up one sheet of designer series paper so you can use the pieces on multiple projects. I’ve never used this technique before, but as luck would have it, during OnStage last week, we were given a template to use with this technique! Talk about great timing!!! So I decided to use the template with a beautiful sheet of the Garden Poetry Designer Series Paper (DSP.) The sheet I picked looks watercolored with gorgeous Spring colors of Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, Crushed Curry, and Pumpkin Pie.

Here’s a photo of the template I received at OnStage. I placed cardboard behind it so it would be easier to see. I only made four projects, so I had leftover pieces to make even more!

I wanted to make some Easter projects, so I picked the Garden Paradise Bundle, which includes some beautiful florals, enhanced by die-cuts from the Beautiful Motifs Dies, and greetings from the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. Since I was making so many projects, I kept them fairly simple.

For this first one, I used a lot of the 1″ and 1/2″ strips of DSP tearing the bottom ends at different lengths. I also added a strip of Poppy Parade and a background of Basic White Cardstock that I dry embossed with the Garden Paradise Hybrid Embossing Folder.

For the flowers, I inked up the stamp with one color of ink, stamped off on scratch paper from one to three times to lighten the color, and then used a Sponge Dauber to add more intense ink in the center. Afterwards, I gave the stamp a generous spritz of water and stamped on Basic White Cardstock. For the red flowers, I only used Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade ink. For the yellow flowers, I used Crushed Curry and Flirty Flamingo ink.

For this next card, I used a couple of the triangular shaped cuts of DSP and tore the top. I also added smaller flowers stamped with Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie ink. For this particular card, I used the coordinating die inside the hybrid embossing folder to cut some of the leaves during the embossing process. Then, to make the leaves pop out, I placed Dimensionals underneath.

Note: During the dry embossing process, three of the cut leaves on the sides fell off. I carefully replaced and glued them in place.

My last two projects are treats made with Scalloped Gift Card Boxes so I could fill them with chocolate Easter eggs. I again tore some of the smaller strips of DSP.

My final projects used up several of the 1″ squares of DSP by placing them on a slightly longer strip of Poppy Parade Cardstock.
