#TGIFC550 — Color Challenge with Thankful Garden

Happy Friday! It’s a new month and that means a new color challenge at TGIF Challenges! This time, our combo includes Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, and Old Olive — great colors for Fall-themed cards. I designed this card for a sweet friend’s birthday using the Thankful Garden Bundle (an online exclusive.)

I love images that I can watercolor and great leaf dies, and this bundle has both! I stamped the floral image with Stazon ink on Basic White Cardstock and then watercolored it with Calypso Coral and Old Olive ink. I also randomly pre-watercolored a sheet of Basic White Cardstock with Old Olive ink to use for die-cutting the background leaves. By painting first and die-cutting dry paper, the die-cuts come out nice and crisp.

In the background, I used some Calypso Coral Beautiful Bokeh Designer Series Paper. I’m on my second pack of this paper because it’s so versatile and pretty. I also dry embossed a Basic White layer with the new Gathering Leaves Embossing Folder. I love the subtle design and texture.

For embellishments, I used some holiday items that also work for everyday! I tied a big double bow with Old Olive Linen Thread and added some pearl “berries” to the centers of the flowers. By adding a few singles next to the triples, they look more like flower centers rather than berries.
