It’s time for a new TGIF Challenge! This week, our theme is the gorgeous Gathering Together Suite Collection. It’s perfect for Fall-themed cards with beautiful leaf artwork and colors. But what I love the most are the huge leaf dies that have optional holes for stitching. As a person who loves sewing and embroidery, these dies called to me!

I started my project by randomly watercoloring a sheet of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper with a Fall color pallet including Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive ink. As the paper dried, I added water and ink splatter for lots of variegation. I even removed color by adding water splatter, letting it sit a bit, and then dabbing it up with a paper towel.

Next, I used a needle with a large eye and Early Espresso Linen Thread to backstitch the holes created by the die-insert. Then, just for fun, I added French Knots at the end of each vein.
The Gathering Moments Cling Stamp Set includes several DistINKtive stamps with photographic imaging. I stamped the Crush Curry leaves on Very Vanilla Cardstock and the acorn on Basic Beige Cardstock with Early Espresso ink. Then, I used a slightly damp Water Painter to paint over the images blending the ink. I love this technique for DistINKtive stamps. It makes the images look painted, and it’s super easy to do!

I kept the rest of this card fairly simple by adding a subtle texture in the background with the Gathering Leaves 3D Embossing Folder and a dark contrasting “wood” banner using the Gathering Together DSP. At the top of the banner, I rolled up some of the DSP very tightly to form a unique topper.
