#TGIFC526 — Inspiration Challenge

By | May 23, 2025

Welcome to a new TGIF Challenge! This week, we have the inspiration photo/layout below. It’s cool and different with the focus mainly in the lower left and a big, bold greeting. I thought it would be fun to turn it into a Father’s Day card for my husband. He’s such a loving, thoughtful dad to our children, and he needs to know how much I appreciate everything he does.

For my card, I used the fantastic Scenic Adventure Bundle from Stampin’ Up!’s Online Exclusives. I love this bundle! It’s got great stamps and dies to build outdoor scenes, and it’s great for masculine cards. My husband loves the local Sierra Nevada mountains, so I know he’ll appreciate this card.

Since the circle is a main focal point in the inspiration photo, I decided to build a scene on the largest Stylish Shapes circle die-cut. I pre-painted several layers of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and used them to die-cut all the individual pieces for the background, mountains, trees, and meadow. First, I cut out the background. Then, I adhered the mountains, background trees, and meadow. Afterwards, I very carefully lined up the circle die again and ran all the layers through my Cut & Emboss Machine. Since watercolor paper is quite thick, it didn’t cut all the way through, but it did cut enough to show the stitching on top and for me to use Paper Snips to trim off the rest flush with the circle die-cut.

Next, I added the smaller tree die-cuts and the larger ones to the right.

Here are the ink colors I used for the different watercolor layers:

  1. Background — Balmy Blue
  2. Mountains — Gray Granite
  3. Background trees — Secret Sea and Shaded Spruce
  4. Meadow — Granny Apple Green and Crushed Curry
  5. Small trees — Shaded Spruce and Garden Green
  6. Large trees — Old Olive, Garden Green, and Granny Apple Green

I also used the tree stamps to emboss a whole row of trees behind the focal circle and sentiment.

The sentiment is embossed in white on Secret Sea Cardstock and fussy cut.

On the inside, I adhered a few more of those tree die-cuts and a sentiment from the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack.

I hope this card inspires you. This is a fun challenge, so I encourage you to click over to the TGIF Challenges Blog to see the other designers’ projects. Then, create one of your own and enter our challenge at the bottom of that post.
