#TGIFC518 – Inspiration Challenge

It’s time for another TGIF Challenge! This week, we have the beautiful inspiration photo below. I love the soft colors and watercolor blends. I also love the detail on the flowers. So these are the elements I decided to focus on.

For my card, I used the Thankful Garden Bundle, with is an Online Exclusive. It have beautiful florals that I thought would work well with this challenge.

I stamped the main image three times with Jet Black Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, twice on the background on the upper left and lower right, and then once again on a separate sheet to die-cut. I also pre-painted a smaller sheet of watercolor paper with Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive ink to use for die-cutting the leaves.

To color the flowers, I used colors inspired by the photo, including Strawberry Slush (a new 2025 In Color) and Pretty In Pink, Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather, and Petal Pink and Calypso Coral. Then, I used Darling Duckling (another new 2025 In Color) for the insides as well as Fresh Freesia.

To add additional detail to the flowers, similar to the inspiration photo, I used watercolor pencils (Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape, Calypso Coral, and Crushed Curry.) Watercolor pencils are great for fine, detail work and adding depth to coloring.

In the background, I used both Coastal Cabana and Garden Green ink.

After the watercolor panel dried, I roughed up the edges with scissors and added it to another layer of Basic White Cardstock that I drew a frame with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.

To finish the card, I added a simple sentiment from the Greetings for All Ephemera Pack, some large check ribbon, and a few new clear gems from a pack of Strawberry Slush and Pretty In Pink Gems available in the new Annual Catalog.
