#TGIFC508 — Painting Theme Challenge

Happy Friday! Our theme for this week’s TGIF Challenge is painting. I love the cute prompt below, especially the “rules for art.” I couldn’t agree more, in fact, I feel like I do my best work when I forget all the rules and rely on my imagination. 🙂

Using the Crafting With You Bundle (with an easel) was an obvious choice. But I feel like I haven’t played with this bundle enough and it’s so cute, especially for someone who loves to paint. I took inspiration from some cards I saw Patty Bennett post a long time ago where she added artwork to the easel! I thought it was such a clever idea. So I updated it by choosing some current designer series paper.

The Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Papers have lots of gorgeous scenes, so I simply cropped my “painting” out of one of the sheets. The easel itself is stamped with Early Espresso ink on Country Woods Designer Series Paper for a rustic look.

In the background, I added a layer that’s dry embossed with the Plaster Painting 3D Embossing Folder. Prior to embossing it, I painted a watercolor wash of Boho Blue on the Basic White Cardstock.

The Crafting With You Bundle has great accent pieces, including the basket, paint brushes, and sentiment. I stamped the basket with Basic Gray ink on Smoky Slate Cardstock that I had pre-watercolored with Smoky Slate. Then, I stamped the paint brushes with Stazon ink and watercolored them with the ink colors listed below in the Product List.

The final touches were some Boho Blue Jute and Regal Foiled Dots.
