#TGIFC504 — Christmas Cookies

By | December 20, 2024

Welcome to a new TGIF Challenge! This week, our theme is “Christmas Cookies.” I had absolutely nothing in my stash to go with this theme, haha, so I had to be super creative. When I think of Christmas cookies, I think of baking with my kids and leaving cookies out for Santa on Christmas Eve. That was always a favorite tradition when the kids were small. And of course, we had to include some carrots for the reindeer!

That got me thinking that I could create a plate of cookies with a variety of dies. Challenge accepted!

Ever since the Spotlight On Nature Dies came out, the one with radiating stitches has made me think of a paper plate. So that’s where I started. Of course, I also needed the word Santa, so I used the Mini Alphabet Dies.

I don’t have any Santa die-cuts or papers, but I do have reindeer!!! I used the Reindeer Fun Dies to create the reindeer head from Early Espresso, Basic Beige, and Crumb Cake Cardstock. I also used those dies to cut the cute holly leaves from Granny Apple Green and Garden Green Cardstock. Then, I added a little artistic flair with a Sponge Dauber and some Garden Green ink. Easy peasy.

To make the cookies, I used the new Around It All Dies from the January-April Mini Catalog, which will be available to order on January 7, 2025. These dies include a variety of sizes of “wonky” circles. I cut the cookies from Crumb Cake Cardstock using the smallest die from the set.

To transform the wonky circles into cookies, I used a Sponge Dauber to add Crumb Cake ink around the edges, like they were baked. Then, I stamped and embossed some in white and used a Chalk Marker to draw on the rest. Lastly, I added some Real Red & White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints.

In the background, I used some coordinating Reindeer Fun Designer Series Paper and a layer of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock dry embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder.

Final touches were some embellishments of Cherry Cobbler Berries and Real Red & White Baker’s Twine! Yay, voila!
