Hello Friends! It’s time for a new TGIF Challenge and this week, we have a great color combination for the holidays including Real Red, Gold and Basic White. This is such a lovely and traditional combo. I was super excited to come up with something fun.
I decided to have a play with some gold Metallic Enamel Effects! You know I love to paint, so I thought it might be fun to try painting with the gold. I remembered a Stampin’ Up! event where we used a palette knife to spread out Metallic Enamel Effects to create a fun background, so I thought why not take it a step further and try using a paint brush, and it worked! I love how my card turned out!
To create my Christmas tree, first I used the Merriest Trees Dies to cut the tree pieces from Basic White Cardstock. Then, I added several drops of gold Metallic Enamel Effects to a Silicon Craft Sheet and used a small flat brush to pick up the gold enamel and paint swipes on the die-cuts. (Since I was experimenting, I didn’t want to ruin a Water Painter. Although, I think it would have been OK.) It was super easy! I started at the top and brushed downwards. I realized that it looked better when I picked up a lot of the enamel effects on my brush. That way, I could lay down thicker portions that were more visible.
After painting all the layers, I set them aside to air dry naturally. I didn’t use a heat tool because I was concerned that it might make the enamel bubble.
Once the layers were dry, I assembled my tree with Dimensionals on the bottom of each layer and liquid glue on the top, so bottom of each layer popped out and it took the shape of a Christmas tree. Then, I cut the tree accents from Gold Foil and added Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems.
In the background, I used a Perennial Postage die-cut from Season Of Elegance DSP and a layer of Gold Foil dry embossed with the Forever Plaid Embossing Folder. I also added a gold embossed greeting from the Greetings Of The Season Stamp Set and a little Gold Twisted Thread.
On the inside is another layer of Seasons of Elegance Designer Series Paper and a sentiment and tag from the Greetings Of The Season Bundle.
I hope this card inspires you to come play along with our color challenge this week. Go to the TGIF Challenges Blog to see the other designers’ projects and add your project!

Thanks so much Ursina! It was so fun and easy. My mind is spinning with other ideas. 😍
What a genius idea!!! I love how it turned out and want to try this, too. I just have to get the enamel effects first 😅
