We have a VERY exciting TGIF Challenge this week! Did you notice the number? It’s our 500th challenge!!! AMAZING! The occasion made me wonder how long I’ve been doing the challenges. So, I looked back and found one as early as TGIF Challenge #136 on December 5. 2017!
To celebrate this exciting event, we have a really fun technique challenge — tearing. Who doesn’t like tearing? It’s probably one of the first techniques I ever learned, and it’s still a favorite. We want to get LOTS of participation this week, not only to celebrate our 500th challenge, but to thank so many of you for sticking with us and playing along all this time!
My card is a special one for my son and his bride of 2 years to celebrate their wedding anniversary! It features the gorgeous Splendid Autumn 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I love it. It’s perfect for any type of card this time of year. I used two sheets, one as a background and another to cut out one of the flowers so I could pop it up.
The die-cut hearts are from the Friends For Life Dies and the initials are from the Alphabet A La Mode Dies. Before cutting the initials out, I attached a Foam Adhesive Sheet to the back of some Blackberry Bliss Cardstock. Then, I used a Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blend Marker to color the sides of the foam so the white did not show. I also used the dark marker to add a little bit of splatter to the background paper.
Tearing is such a fun technique. If you tear towards you, the ripped edge will show. Depending on the type of paper used, a white core can also show. Designer series papers have a core, while cardstock does not, but both are super fun looks.
On the inside of my card, I used the Sweetly Scripted stamp set for the sentiment. I also, used the rest of the Splendid Autumn DSP that I had cut off for the front of the card and another Friends For Life die-cut.
Have you ever tried both Very Vanilla and Basic White on the same card? It’s actually quite pretty. I liked the way the Very Vanilla color accentuated the warm colors of the flowers in the DSP and the way the white showed up boldly against the background.
Be sure to click over to the TGIF Challenges Blog to see all the designers’ projects this week. Then, PLEASE join our challenge. We have a goal to get 50 participants this week!!! So we need your help. Use tearing any way you want on your project. It can be as simple or complex as you’d like. I can’t wait to see what you dream up!
Have a wonderful and creative day!
