#TGIFC492 — Inspiration Challenge

By | September 27, 2024

Happy Friday Friends! It’s time for a new TGIF Challenge. This week, we have the inspiration below. While it includes Fall colors, I decided to get a jump on my Christmas cards and gave it a holiday twist. There’s a lot going on in the picture, but the main elements I picked out were flowers, birds, and circular shapes in a collage.

For my card, I used the Winterly Tree Tops Bundle and Regal Winter Designer Series Paper (DSP.) This DSP is beautiful with it’s rich, regal tones and watercolored elements. I also brought in some Textured Floral and Spotlight On Nature die-cuts for layering.

I stamped the birds with Memento ink and colored them with a combination of Stampin’ Blends Markers and Watercolor Pencils. I was trying to make them look like cardinals for Christmas, and I think I’m fairly satisfied. To make the birds blend with the background, I colored the white outline around the birds and branches with Basic Black Stampin’ Blends.

Here are a few tips: Use the Color Lifter Stampin’ Blend Marker to blend colors and fade to light. It’s also great for adding highlights to berries! The Watercolor Pencils (Cherry Cobbler, Pecan Pie, Early Espresso, and Basic Gray) are great for adding fine details and completing the blending process.

I also used Stampin’ Blends Markers to color the Textured Floral die-cut leaves including light Night of Navy, Pretty Peacock, and Shaded Spruce to coordinate with the DSP.

For the layered flowers, I simply fussy cut them from the DSP.

The gold embossed sentiments on the card front and inside are from the Greetings of the Season Bundle. This is a GREAT bundle for holiday cards. I foresee using it a lot.

Then, for a little extra flair, I covered the envelope flap with the opposite side of the DSP and fussy cut a little corner of the DSP to add to the inside of the card.

I hope this card inspires you. Be sure to check out all the designers’ projects on the TGIF Challenges Blog. I’ve love to see what you interpret from the inspiration picture!

These is supremely gorgeous! Did you stamp the birds on the black cardstock, or white and fussy cut (!) or cut from the DSP? Or use a little bit of fairy magic?!!

Thanks so much Margaret!!! You are very kind. I stamped the birds with Memento ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used the coordinating die to cut them out and colored the border with Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. The birds are colored with Blends too, colors noted above in the supply list.
