#TGIFC418 — Inspiration Challenge

By | April 28, 2023

This week’s TGIF Challenge was inspired by the picture below. While it didn’t necessarily need to be a baby card, for the first time in a VERY long time, I actually had a reason to make one! My nephew and his wife are expecting!!! It’s all very exciting, because they are the first of their generation in our family to have a baby.

I wanted to choose colors that the expectant mom would love. So I looked at one of the photos the couple used to post their Instagram announcement (so adorable!) and picked a similar color combo of Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam, and a little Lost Lagoon for some blue tones.

My card features a mix of products including the Charming Sentiments Stamps, Natural Prints Dies (for the wreath), and Sending Dies (to cut out the sentiment and tiny flowers.) I had a vision in my head of what I wanted to do, and one bundle was just not enough. This is a very special card.

I used the Basics 3D Embossing Folders to dry emboss the Basic White background layer. Then I cut out the wreath die-cuts from Basic White Cardstock as well. I was going for a super clean look for this whole card. Then, I very lightly watercolored the wreath die-cuts with Soft Sea Foam ink, leaving lots of white areas. There are two leaf die shapes (also part of the Natural Prints Dies) that I added underneath the main wreath. For the longer pieces, I watercolored them with Soft Sea Foam (a little darker than the main wreath) and then for the smaller pieces, I watercolored them first with Soft Sea Foam and then with a light wash of Lost Lagoon.

To create the flowers, I watercolored Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper with Petal Pink ink. That one color of ink actually produced shades of yellow, pink and apricot as it dried. Then, I used the small double flower die from the Sending Dies to cut out a variety of colors.

I know the mom-to-be loves neutral tones, so I added a bow tied with Linen Thread and a sentiment stamped with Pebbled Path ink. Then, the final touch was some Pearl Basic Jewels.

    What a lovely card, Tami!
I have never made a baby card, wouldn’t even know where to start.
Love the colors you chose, so soft.
Thanks and have a wonderful day.
