Happy Friday! For today’s TGIF Challenge, we have the inspiration below. It was the perfect opportunity to try out the Perched In A Tree Bundle. I particularly love the Aspen Tree Die background and have been dying to use it.
I had a lot of fun with this card, because the Perched In A Tree stamps include both a large splatter and a small dot splatter that are great for creating fun effects with watercoloring. For my leaves, I started out by randomly stamping a sheet of wet Shimmery White Cardstock with the large splatter using Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, and Pumpkin Pie ink. As it dried, I added the small dot splatters. Then, I used the finished sheet to die-cut the leaves. I love, love, love how they turned out!
Behind the large background die-cut, I created a watercolor wash on Shimmery White using the same three colors and Balmy Blue. Then, while it was still wet, I stamped some of the splatters. I also flicked the sheet with water drops and used a paper towel to remove some color.
I cut the Aspen Tree background die-cut from Shimmery White Cardstock and used a Blending Brush to add Gray Granite ink to the outside edges and sides of the trees. Then, I added some small splatter dot stamps with the same color.
The hardest part of this card for me was painting the bird! I looked at images of Winter birds and found some that looked like the stamp so I could mimic the colors. It took me a couple tries. The first time, it turned out way too dark. But I’m fairly happy with the end result.
