#TGIFC372 — Sketch Challenge

By | June 10, 2022

Welcome to a new TGIF Sketch Challenge! Today’s sketch is one I use quite often, so it wasn’t a big stretch for me. Haha! I think it’s my “go to” sketch. In fact, I frequently need to remind myself to do something different so I’m not too boring. 🙂

Because this sketch is so simple, it leaves a lot to imagination. So, I decided to really dress it up with some fun coloring techniques, die-cuts, and a super fun, new stamp set called Sunny Splash. Aren’t those bathing suits the cutest ever?

To stamp the bathing suits, I inked up the stamp, stamped off on scratch paper, and then used a Sponge Dauber to add color to the sides for a 3D effect. Then, before stamping on Shimmery White Cardstock, I gave the stamp a light spritz with water. This causes the stamped image to look watercolored, which is exactly what I wanted. Afterwards, I cut out the bathing suits by hand.

In the background, I used a sheet of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. First, I watercolored it with Starry Sky and Tahitian Tide ink. Then, once it was dry, I added water splatters by tapping my Water Painter over the layer. Next, I added white splatter by mixing a little ink refill with some water and finally, I added some Starry Sky splatter with a Stampin’ Write Marker.

I had picked out the Waves Dies to embellish my project and was about to glue everything down, when I noticed an extra palm tree die-cut sitting on my desk. It was leftover from designing my online class the previous weekend, and I realized it would look super cute on my card. You never know when or where inspiration will hit you. Keep those leftover scraps!

This just makes me want to go to the beach!!!
