Happy TGIF! Hope you’re enjoying your long Thanksgiving weekend. For my family, this is the first official day of the Christmas season. It’s when my husband and I drag out all the storage boxes and start decorating. I love rediscovering family treasures. We’ve got a huge collection of ornaments that bring back wonderful memories of vacations, special events, and the kids growing up. To me, it’s the beginning of the magic.
Speaking of the magic of Christmas, that’s the theme of this week’s TGIF Challenge!
My card features the In The Pines stamp set, coordinating Pine Woods Dies, and the North Pole Wonder Dies. These products work so well together to create fun Winter scenes.
I used a partial embossing technique on the trees and sentiment that’s super easy. I started by stamping the solid trees with a combination of Pear Pizzazz and Shaded Spruce ink. Afterwards, I stamped the detailed tree with Garden Green ink, but before it dried, I quickly sprinkled it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Next, I used a dry paint brush to remove some of the embossing powder and then heat set. This effectively only highlights parts of the trees with gold embossing. I stamped and embossed the sentiment the same way, although it’s a little hard to see in the photos.
Next, I added a soft glow to the background of stitched circle die cut with some Pool Party ink and a Blending Brush. This new tool will be available to purchase in January with the new Mini Catalog. It the meantime, you could obtain similar results with a Sponge Dauber.
The rest of the card includes lots of layers of Stampin’ Up!’s beautiful designer series papers (DSP). I used In Good Taste DSP for the stag, Tis’ The Season DSP for the tag, and Wonder of the Season DSP for the background.
Final touches include a fancy bow tied with some Real Red Braided Linen Trim and the gold cord from the Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo. I also added some Wonderful Gems. The gold glitter highlights embedded in those gems are so pretty!
Be sure to check out all the TGIF designers’ projects this week for lots of magical Christmas inspiration, and then come join our challenge!
Have a wonderful and creative day!
