Happy Friday! TGIF Challenges is starting out July with a fun color challenge including three new 2019 In Colors! I am IN LOVE with these new colors. Not only do they look great together, but they coordinate well with Stampin’ Up!’s standard color palette.
I decided last minute to make a card for this challenge, so I didn’t put a lot of thought into it. (Typically, I’m only supposed to do the even challenges.) But, when I realized that all these colors have Stampin’ Blends Markers, I decided to spend my 4th of July afternoon doing a little coloring therapy.
I stamped the Good Morning Magnolia flowers multiple times with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink so I could cut out numerous layers. I love creating 3-D looking flowers on cards.
I cut out all the flowers and leaves by hand so there were no borders. I also cut off most of the leaves from the large flower, so I could compact the image into a smaller space on my card.
I used Rococo Rose, Purple Posy, and one neutral (Crumb Cake) Stampin’ Blends Markers to color the flowers and leaves. I also used a Color Lifter Marker to blend out to white.
Then, to bring in the Seaside Spray color, I used an Aqua Painter to watercolor a really quick wash in the background (one swoop since I was using Whisper White Cardstock.) Afterwards, I used a Seaside Spray Stampin’ Write Marker to flick splatters all over the background.
To finish the card, I added a few die cuts. The detail leaves on the right are cut from Woven Threads Designer Series Paper for a softer look.
